The Oluyole Traditional Council in Oyo State has endorsed the House of Representatives ambition of the Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, describing his emergence as the next federal lawmaker for the constituency in the 2027 elections as “a sealed deal.”
The endorsement was made during a grand convergence of traditional rulers and community leaders held at the Oluyole Multipurpose Hall, New Garage, Ibadan.
The event had in attendance monarchs, chiefs, community stakeholders, political leaders, religious figures, and supporters from across the local government. It was convened to publicly affirm the council’s confidence in Olatunji’s leadership and capacity to represent the people at the National Assembly.
Speaking on behalf of the traditional institution, the Baale of Oleyo, Chief Kabiru Olajide, commended Olatunji for his exemplary leadership, grassroots-oriented governance, and developmental strides since assuming office.
The monarchs noted that Olatunji’s achievements in infrastructure development, youth empowerment, security support, community engagement, and welfare initiatives have earned him the trust and admiration of the people.
According to them, he has consistently demonstrated humility, accessibility, and genuine commitment to the welfare of the people, qualities that distinguish him as a worthy ambassador of Oluyole.
The council said the endorsement transcends partisan politics and reflects the collective desire of traditional leaders to support a candidate with a proven track record of service delivery.
“Our decision is based on performance, competence and the overwhelming acceptance he enjoys among the people. We are convinced that Engr. Akeem Olatunji possesses the experience, vision and capacity to attract greater development to Oluyole at the federal level,” one of the traditional rulers stated.
The council further urged residents, political stakeholders, and eligible voters in the constituency to rally behind Olatunji’s aspiration, expressing confidence that his election would bring increased dividends of democracy and quality representation.
Responding, Olatunji expressed appreciation to the traditional institution for the confidence reposed in him, describing the gesture as humbling and motivating.
He pledged not to betray the trust of the royal fathers and the people, and assured that he would continue to prioritize inclusive development, good governance, and people-oriented policies.
The council chairman reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining developmental projects in the local government while promising effective representation, impactful constituency projects, and legislation to improve the socio-economic well-being of the people if elected.
He also called on residents to remain united and continue supporting initiatives aimed at promoting peace, progress, and sustainable development in Oluyole.
