A member of the Accord Party in Osun State, Mr Asimiyu Kasumu, who was allegedly abducted alongside one other party member in Ilesa on June 25, 2026, has sought justice months after the incident.
NAIJAONPOINT report that a video which circulated online on June 25 showed a man being bundled into a waiting vehicle which was branded with the image of one of the Governorship candidates in the state.
The man was seen pleading with the suspected abductors as he was driving away.
However, it was gathered that the suspected abductors took the Accord Party members to a police station in Ilesa after some residents reportedly raised alarm.
The spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, CSP Abiodun Ojelabi, also confirmed that the command was aware of the incidents in Ilesa.
But Kasumu, a known supporter of Governor Ademola Adeleke, said months after the incident, his alleged abductors were still roaming freely on the street without being arrested.
He said the incident has left him living in palpable fear due to alleged inaction by the police.
“The abductors took us to the police station in the same APC campaign bus seen in the video. We expected the police to arrest them, particularly as we had been physically assaulted. Shockingly, however, they were not arrested,” he said.
Kasumu stated that they were instead transferred to the Osun State Criminal Investigation Department in Osogbo that same night, where they were allegedly locked up in a cell immediately.
The Accord Party member added that at the State CID, he made a statement, identified himself in a viral video of the abduction, and provided the names and aliases of the suspected persons.
Following the incident, Kasumu said his lawyer on June 27, 2026, petitioned the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone XI, Osogbo, over alleged bias and failure of the Osun State Police Command to investigate the matter.

He, however, said the suspects have not been arrested or prosecuted, adding that they are still moving freely in Ilesa.
“The suspected hoodlums are still moving freely in Ilesa till today. As if their connections with the APC make them above the law,” Kasumu stated.
He appealed to Nigerians, human rights organisations and relevant authorities to help me obtain justice.
“Nobody should be above the law, irrespective of political affiliation or connections. I want justice,” Kasumu said.
Efforts to get the reaction of the Osun State Police Command proved abortive at the time of this report.
