Police Arrest 4 Suspects Over Conspiracy To Commit Murder In Anambra

Four persons have been arrested by the anti-crime squad of the Anambra State Police Command in connection with an alleged conspiracy to commit murder.

The command’s  spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, in a press statement named the suspects as one Obiora Nwankwo, male, 38 years; Chiadikobi, Okoye, male, 36 years; Emmanuel Mboko, male, 42 years; and Ifeanyi Obi, male, 37 years.

He said they were arrested at different locations in Ukwulu, Dunukofia local government area (LGA), and Amichi, Nnewi-South LGA on 12th August, 2026, when operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, in collaboration with Agunechemba security personnel attached to Amichi, Nnewi, acting on credible intelligence, disrupted their alleged criminal plot.

Ikenga said during the operation,  two firearms and live ammunition were recovered from the suspects.

He added that preliminary investigation indicated that the suspects were linked to a plot to murder a resident and subsequently take over his landed property.

Ikenga said thorough investigations were being conducted to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged conspiracy, identify other persons who might be connected to the plot.

He said that the state Commissioner of police, Mr. Nnanna Oji Ama has vowed that the suspects who are already in the custody of the state police command  would be made to face the full weight of the law upon the conclusion of investigations.

“To this end, the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, emphasized that the feat demonstrates the importance of the Command’s renewed intelligence-led policing strategy, which is designed to detect criminal threats early, disrupt planned attacks and prevent the loss of lives and property”, Ikenga stated.
