Students of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) in Anambra State were left shocked and frightened after a large python was spotted behind their lodge.
A video circulating on social media captured the reptile moving around the area as some students stood at a distance and watched cautiously.
The sight of the snake attracted attention, with some students expressing fear over its presence around their residence.
A caption accompanying the video suggested that the students frequently encounter reptiles around the lodge, raising concerns about the safety of those living in the area.
According to reports, the lodge is located close to a bushy area, and many people believe the surrounding vegetation could be the reason snakes and other reptiles are occasionally seen around the students’ accommodation.
The incident has sparked discussions among social media users, with some advising students living in areas close to bushes to remain cautious and take safety measures to prevent dangerous encounters with wildlife.
Others called on landlords and relevant authorities to ensure that the surroundings of student accommodations are properly cleared and maintained to reduce the risk of reptiles entering residential areas.
Although no injuries were reported from the encounter, the appearance of the python has left many students more alert about their surroundings.
