‘The Reason Your Parents Tell You Not to Marry Early Is Poverty’ – Peller
- Peller has attributed parents’ concerns about early marriage largely to poverty, arguing that financial limitations influence how young people approach marriage.
- His remarks have, however, divided social media users, with some supporting his position and others stressing that marriage involves emotional maturity and long-term responsibility beyond money.

Nigerian content creator Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, has responded to critics who believe he is too young to be married, arguing that financial hardship is the major reason many parents discourage young people from marrying early.
Peller made the statement while addressing reactions to his decision to marry at a young age.
“The reason your parents tell you not to marry early is because of poverty,” he said.
His comment has sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some users agreeing that financial constraints prevent many young Nigerians from settling down, while others argued that marriage requires more than financial stability.

@SuruSegun82579 Maybe parents don’t discourage early marriage because of poverty, but because they understand something deeper: love may be young, but marriage carries the weight of a lifetime.
@layomiade_LA Ode you go soon learn people that are cool and calm and more mature self, rush in and out of marriage..lol, if you last 5yrs make I turn lizard
@IfeoluwaOftech Point of correction, most of these parent ask you to marry, and it’s the youths who refuses to marry early because of poverty. But the truth is money is the reason why most of these young men and some women haven’t married yet.
@breezhr If his own parents had married earlier they would have had a sensible grown man not a boy with money and no sense
