The humanitarian intervention programme of former Zamfara State Governor and Senator representing Zamfara West Senatorial District, Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, has surpassed 1.7 million beneficiaries over the past three years, marking a significant milestone in its ongoing support for vulnerable residents across the state.
As part of the latest phase of the initiative, Senator Yari has approved the distribution of 145 truckloads of maize and 42,000 bags of 10kg Semovita to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and vulnerable households in all 14 Local Government Areas of Zamfara State.
The Chairman of the Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar Palliative Distribution Committee, Hon. Lawal M. Liman, announced the development after a committee meeting held in Gusau.
According to Dr. Liman, each of the state’s 14 Local Government Areas will receive 10 truckloads of maize and 3,000 bags of Semovita, while the remaining trucks have been allocated to strengthen the distribution process and ensure relief reaches communities most affected by economic hardship.
He disclosed that approximately 210,000 residents across Zamfara’s 147 political wards are expected to benefit from this latest phase of the programme.
Dr. Liman described the intervention as a reflection of Senator Yari’s sustained commitment to supporting vulnerable families, especially amid prevailing economic challenges.
He noted that, over the last three years, the programme has consistently provided food items, agricultural inputs and other relief materials to communities across the state, with more than 1.7 million people benefiting from the initiative.
He also appealed to the people of Zamfara State to continue praying for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Abdulaziz Yari, asking God to grant them wisdom and strength in addressing the country’s economic and security challenges, particularly the persistent insecurity affecting Northern Nigeria.
The committee reaffirmed its commitment to conducting the distribution exercise in a transparent, fair and orderly manner, ensuring that all approved items are delivered to their intended beneficiaries across the state.
