2027: “I’ll Restore Subsidy” – Sowore Promises To Put Money From Governors’ Overseas Transfers In Nigerians’ Pockets

Speaking on the Morayo Show, Sowore said he would target funds allegedly moved abroad by governors and redirect the money towards Nigerians.
He said, “The immediate things I will do is to restore subsidy. I will take the money from the governors, who change them to dollars and take them to Dubai every month and put it in your pocket.”
Sowore also alleged that several senators have Bureau de Change outlets through which they change money, contributing to capital flight.
He said, “There’s virtually no senator in Nigeria that doesn’t have what they call BDC. That’s their private bank. That’s where they change money whenever money is available, and there’s capital flight. That’s why the rest of you are poor.”
Asked if he believes he can win the 2027 election, Sowore said, “Yes, I can say so. The strategy is you. You have to decide this time around that you want to choose the best. And I’m here to present myself to you as the best that can solve your problems.”
He also criticised former governors seeking the presidency, saying, “Nobody can convince me to support anybody who was a former governor before. You spent eight years as governor, you didn’t turn your state to Dubai, and you want to come and tell me you want to turn Nigeria to Dubai in four years. It’s a lie.”
On education, Sowore criticised political leaders and private universities, saying, “My former vice president before, Asu went on strike for how many years? While they were on strike, he went and created their own private university, where the children of the poor cannot go to, and you want to be president of Nigeria? No.”
He also questioned the technological capacity of some Nigerian politicians, saying, “I have an app that explains everything I want to do. Most of them don’t even know how to use cell phones. Your leaders. You are having an analog leadership leading a digital generation, and you want progress? See yourself.”
On calls for a political coalition ahead of the election, Sowore said, “We are not divided because I have never been on their side. We have ideological differences. Since 2019 that I’ve been running, I’ve never been in any coalition with Atiku, Obi, or Tinubu. Never.”
His comments have generated mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians questioning how his proposed policies would work in practice.
