A 49-year-old man, Prince Chukwudi Eguzouwa, has been remanded in a correctional facility after police arrested him during a raid on a suspected criminal hideout in Abia State.
A police statement signed by the Abia State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka, announced this development on Tuesday.
Eguzouwa, from Ahiabubi in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area, was arrested on 18 September after operatives of the Violent Response Unit and Anti-Cultism Unit raided the area.
The police said the operation was based on actionable intelligence received by the units.
The suspect was taken to court on Tuesday after the completion of investigations, and was remanded in a correctional facility.
Drugs recovered during raid
The police said bags containing substances suspected to be Cannabis Sativa, “Scottish Loud”, methamphetamine, cocaine and other hard drugs were recovered during the operation.
The raid was carried out as part of intelligence-led operations against criminal hideouts in Abia State.

The police command said the operation was conducted at Ahiabubi under the direction of the Commissioner of Police, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi.
The command said Eguzouwa was known in the community as a drug dealer.
The operation was also carried out in line with the Inspector-General of Police’s approach to intelligence-led policing, the command said.
The police did not state the quantity of each substance recovered from the location.
Following the raid, the suspect was taken through investigation before being brought before the court on 22 September.
He was then remanded in a correctional facility.
The Commissioner of Police said the command would continue its intelligence-led policing activities against criminal activity in the state.
Afolabi also warned people involved in unlawful activities to stop or face legal action.
He said Abia State would not be allowed to become a safe place for criminal activities.
The command said the raid was part of its response to intelligence on criminal hideouts within the state.
