The African Democratic Congress says it no longer trusts INEC to protect its votes in the 2027 elections.
The party’s national publicity secretary Bolaji Abdullahi said ADC is making its own arrangements to independently monitor and collate results.
He cited problems from the 2023 election.
In 2023, many candidates trusted INEC’s promise of automatic result transmission to the Independent National Electoral Commission Result Viewing Portal.
But that didn’t happen.
INEC said technical glitches prevented the automatic upload.
Abdullahi, who ran for Senate in 2023, said they’re now twice shy.
They won’t let it happen again.
“We can no longer trust INEC to protect our votes.
e will vigilantly guard our own votes. We will protect our own votes,” he said.
ADC will accept results that match votes cast at polling units.
But they’ll reject outcomes they believe don’t represent actual Nigerian votes.
The party’s stance comes as political parties prepare for the 2027 elections.
Electoral transparency and result management are expected to remain key issues.
