Military troops from Operation Hadin Kai have arrested six men suspected of running a k!dnapping ring around Soktu Hill in Song Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
In another operation, soldiers also received a former Boko h@ram fighter who has renounced the group at Borgozo in Benisheikh, Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State.
The acting Military Information Officer for the Northeast Joint Taskforce, Captain Mohammed Goni, said the six suspects were caught after soldiers received reliable intelligence about their activities.
Troops from Sector 4 OPHK worked with local hunters and raided the hideout, arresting three members of the syndicate and recovering a gun.
Further investigation and follow-up operations led to the capture of three more members.
Preliminary questioning showed the group had been operating in the Soktu, Dumne and Maigero areas of Song Local Government Area.
The suspects admitted to being involved in multiple abductions for ransom and other violent crimes in the region.
They are currently in military custody facing investigation and legal proceedings.
In the second operation on 13 September, soldiers from 29 Task Force Brigade and Forest Guards received a former Boko h@ram fighter at Borgozo who said he wanted to leave the terrorist group.
Items recovered from him included an assault rifle, ammunition, explosive devices, magazines and a bicycle.
He is also in military custody undergoing investigation and assessment according to military procedures.
The military said these successes show the continued pressure troops are putting on t3rrorists and criminals across the operational area.
Officials promised to keep up the operations, restrict the movement of terrorist groups and create safer conditions for citizens and economic activity.
