Chairman Wontumi Suffers Stroke In Prison?— Check Out Latest Video Of Him Struggling To Walk

A new video of former Ashanti Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has surfaced on social media, showing him being assisted while walking.

In the footage, Chairman Wontumi is seen emerging from a building accompanied by several people. He appears to have difficulty walking and is supported by people on either side as he makes his way forward.

At some points in the video, his movement appears limited, particularly on one side of his body, prompting social media users to speculate about his health.

However, the footage alone does not establish that Wontumi has suffered a stroke or that any part of his body is paralysed. There has been no verified medical statement accompanying the video confirming such a diagnosis.

The video has nevertheless generated concern among some social media users, with many commenting on Wontumi’s physical condition as he is helped to walk.

Wontumi is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence with hard labour after an Accra High Court convicted him in July 2026 over illegal mining-related offences involving Akonta Mining. His lawyers have appealed the conviction.

As of September 17, his spokesperson, Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, had confirmed that Wontumi remained in custody at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison.

The latest video has since attracted significant attention online as viewers debate what may have caused the apparent difficulty in his movement.
