Nollywood actress Mo Bimpe has addressed the backlash that followed a recent post she made about mothers who are trying to conceive (TTC).

Taking to Instagram, the actress explained that everyone has the right to share their personal experiences, adding that she chose to tell her own story rather than allow others to speak on her behalf.

According to Bimpe, one of the lessons she has taken from the situation is that people should not assume they know what is best for someone else, particularly when it comes to showing kindness or understanding.

She also acknowledged how painful it can be to hear about the struggles many women face while trying to conceive. Bimpe urged people to be more considerate and mindful of their words and actions toward others.

“As we step into a new month, I want to say:

Everyone is entitled to tell their story.

When I shared mine, I didn’t do it so anyone can explain my experience for me. I lived it.

One thing I’veearbed is that kindness should never be assumed on behalf of someone else. It hurts to hear what women are going through; my DMs are full.

Please, let’s do better.

Invite people.

Call them.

Include them.

Then allow them to decide what they can and can handle.

We don’t always know what someone is carrying, but we can always choose compassion, inclusion, and thoughtfulness.

This new month, may we stop deciding what people can handle and start giving them the dignity of choice.
