Feyenoord Bans 47 Fans After Fireworks Leave Seven Cambuur Supporters Injured

Feyenoord has banned 47 supporters from De Kuip following a fireworks incident that injured seven Cambuur fans during last month’s match in Leeuwarden.
The Rotterdam club announced the decision on Friday after several weeks of investigation, which included reviewing video footage from the match.
The 47 supporters have also had their away-match cards blocked. Their names have been reported to Dutch football association KNVB, which could impose nationwide stadium bans.
According to Feyenoord, those identified include people accused of setting off the fireworks as well as others suspected of helping coordinate the incident. Some reportedly used banners to hide themselves from cameras.
“It cannot be ruled out that criminal proceedings will follow in due course,” Feyenoord said.
Seven Cambuur supporters suffered burns, eye injuries and hearing damage after fireworks were fired from the away section towards the pitch and home stands during the 12th minute of the August 23 match.
Play was stopped for around 20 minutes before the game resumed. Feyenoord eventually won 5-2.
Feyenoord general manager Robert Eenhoorn described what happened as “simply terrible”.
Following the incident, Feyenoord did not take supporters to its away matches against NEC Nijmegen and PEC Zwolle. Cambuur also temporarily stopped visiting supporters from attending its home matches before later lifting the restriction.
