Harrison Gwamnishu’s Team Halts Planned Marriage Involving Alleged Pregnant 15-Year-Old Girl

According to an official statement by the Behind Bars Human Rights Foundation, BBI, the team intervened on Tuesday, September 22, after receiving a report that the girl was allegedly about to be married off.
The foundation said the team, led by its Director-General, Harrison Gwamnishu, immediately went to the venue where the marriage introduction was reportedly scheduled to take place.
Following the intervention, the man allegedly involved was intercepted and handed over to the police for custody and questioning.
During the intervention, the girl reportedly disclosed that she was one month pregnant.
“A full police investigation is currently underway to ensure justice is served. We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates to the public as soon as more details emerge,” the foundation said in a statement signed by its National Public Relations Officer, Comrade Peter Onyeisi Marvellous.
BBI added that it remains focused on protecting the rights of vulnerable people, particularly minors, and ensuring that appropriate authorities handle the case.
