A Nigerian woman has left many social media users concerned after breaking down in tears while sharing a personal message about marriage and motherhood.
In a video making the rounds on TikTok, posted by @omaricha98, the woman advised ladies below 30 to avoid rushing into marriage or having children before establishing themselves.
She was quick to clarify that her position was not because she was married to an irresponsible man, describing her husband as a good person. However, she maintained that marriage and raising children come with responsibilities that could make it difficult for young women to pursue their individual dreams.
Sharing her experience, she said:
“My husband is not a bad person. My husband is a very good man. But, you see, if you are not up to 30 years old, I don’t think you should have any business with marriage. I’ve tested it. I’ve tested motherhood. I’ve tested childbirth. I’ve tested marriage.”
The woman also cautioned young ladies against allowing pregnancy and family responsibilities to interfere with their ambitions, stressing that recovering from missed opportunities could be a lengthy process.
She encouraged women to make the most of their youthful years by investing in themselves before embracing the demands of starting a family.
She further stated:
“Do not ever in your life say you want to waste those moments with marriage or with childbirth. If belle enter that time, comot am, fling am.
It will take you years to build that what you have lost. You see that prime age, whatever you could not achieve then, it will take you lots of years.”
Her comments have since divided opinions, with some women relating to her concerns about lost opportunities, while others believe marriage and motherhood should be based on individual readiness rather than a particular age.
