Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has expressed sadness over the death of Dan Orbih, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Orbih, who served as the PDP National Vice Chairman for the South-South, reportedly passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026, at the age of 64.
Reacting to the news, Wike described the late politician as a close friend, loyal political ally and accomplished figure who made significant contributions to politics in Edo State.
In a condolence message issued through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike said Orbih’s death was deeply painful and personal to him.
“I have lost a friend and a committed political ally. Dan Osi Orbih was everything anyone could desire in friendship and political association,” Wike said.
The FCT Minister acknowledged the difficulty of coming to terms with the loss but said the situation must ultimately be left in God’s hands.
“But we can’t question God. He gives, and He takes,” he added.
Wike further remembered Orbih as a devoted friend, influential politician and man of faith. He also offered his condolences to the deceased’s family, friends and political associates.
“On behalf of myself, my family and political associates, I commiserate with the family of Chief M.C.K. Orbih on the demise of Chief Dan Orbih, a good friend, a great politician and a man of faith in the Almighty God. May his soul rest in peace,” he stated.
Orbih is survived by his wife, Florence Orbih; his children, Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr Mildred Omonemi Orbih; as well as his siblings and other members of his extended family.
