Ebonyi South Senator Prof. Okorie Ani has appealed to Ebonyians to re-elect him to the Senate in 2027, saying he entered the National Assembly as a “poor man” and has been trying to find his feet.

The APC lawmaker made the appeal while speaking to supporters ahead of the 2027 election, explaining that his background as a university professor meant he was not known for affluence before entering politics.

“Some of the things I have not been able to do may have been as a result of my inability. I went to the Senate as a common professor (teacher) We are not known for affluence. I went there as a pøor man, and all this while, I have been trying to find my feet. I am sure that if I go back, I must have found my feet.”

His statement has sparked reactions online, with Nigerians questioning his explanation and mocking the idea of needing another term to “find his feet”.
