A Lagos commercial bus tout, popularly known as an “agbero,” has opened up about his background and the circumstances that led him to the streets in search of a livelihood.
The man revealed that he was once a student of Adamawa State University, where he studied Mass Communication.
According to him, he had to abandon his university education during his 200-level second semester because he could no longer afford the cost of continuing his studies.
Explaining how he ended up in Lagos, he said financial difficulties forced him to look for alternative means of survival.
In his words:
“I’m an agbero because I don’t currently have a job, but I was once a student at Adamawa State University. I dropped out in my 200-level second semester while studying Mass Communication because I couldn’t afford to continue my education. That was why I came to Lagos to hustle.”
The man’s account highlights the difficult choices some young Nigerians face when financial challenges make it difficult to complete their education.
