St. Louis SHS Allegedly Charges Aggregate 9 BECE Student Without School Placement ¢15,000 Before Securing Slot In The School 

A distressed parent has come forward with troubling allegations after his daughter, who scored an aggregate 9 in this year’s BECE, was left without any school placement, a situation he says pushed him to seek direct admission at St. Louis Senior High School, only to be allegedly asked to pay GH₵15,000 to secure a spot.

Speaking in an interview with Joy News, the parent explained the frustration of watching his daughter’s strong academic performance go seemingly unrewarded by the placement system.

With no official placement to fall back on, he decided to approach the school directly, hoping his daughter’s grades alone would be enough to secure her a seat.

Instead, he alleges he was quoted a sum of GH₵15,000 as a condition for admission, an amount he describes as far beyond what many ordinary families can reasonably afford, especially for a child who had already met the academic bar through legitimate means.

St. Louis Senior High School, the Ghana Education Service (GES) have not yet issued a public response to the allegation.

As is often the case with such claims, questions remain over whether this reflects an isolated incident or points to a broader pattern requiring closer scrutiny from educational heads overseeing the placement and admissions process.
