  • Dangote acquired his first private aircraft at 22, shortly before turning 23.

Nigerian billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote has shared a reflection on his early success and the importance of contributing to the economy through productive investments.

Dangote revealed that he acquired his first private aircraft at the age of 22, just months before turning 23, noting that his experiences have given him a different perspective on wealth and business.

According to the business mogul, owning a private aircraft should not be viewed solely as a symbol of wealth, especially when the owner is not actively contributing to economic growth through productive ventures.

“I had my first private aircraft at 22. I bought it just four months before I turned 23. I’ve seen it all. So, whenever I see people flying everywhere in private aircraft without owning a factory, it means they aren’t contributing to the economy,” Dangote said.

His comments highlight his long-standing emphasis on industrialisation, investment and the role of businesses in creating value and contributing to economic development.
