Nollywood veteran actor Clemson Cornell Agbogidi has opened up about his iconic native doctor and chief-priest roles, explaining how he transforms completely whenever he steps into character.

Agbogidi, who is widely recognised for his memorable portrayals of traditional spiritual figures in Nollywood films, said his performances go beyond simply acting because he connects deeply with the character and its significance.

“Immediately I Enter My Role And Costume, And My Jiggling Staff Is In My Hand, There And Then I Become The Eyes Of The Gods. I Become a Different Person Immediately, And Whatever I Do In My Role Has a Significance And a Meaning. I’m Not Just Acting For The Sake Of It. We Were More Than 10 To 12 Powerful Native Doctors, Challenging Ourselves In Nollywood,” he said.

The veteran actor also spoke about his relationship with fellow Nollywood icon Pete Edochie and their respective strengths as actors.

“Pete Edochie, I Don’t Compare My Acting With Him. But When It Comes To Chief-Priest Roles, Pete Edochie Will Tell You To Leave That To Me. I’m The Oracle Of Nollywood,” Agbogidi said.

His comments have generated reactions from fans, with many agreeing that he remains one of Nollywood’s most recognisable actors when it comes to native doctor roles.
