Iranian authorities have executed a man accused of providing information about missile sites in Isfahan province to Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad.
The judiciary announced the execution on Saturday, identifying the man as Hossein Pedaran and accusing him of “espionage and intelligence collaboration” in favour of Israel.
According to the judiciary, Pedaran had provided Mossad with information about missile sites in Isfahan, central Iran.
His death sentence was upheld by Iran’s Supreme Court before the execution was carried out.
The judiciary did not disclose when Pedaran was arrested or tried, while the case had not previously been reported by Iranian media.
Iranian authorities have intensified arrests and executions linked to the Middle East war that began in February, as well as nationwide protests that peaked in January.
Isfahan province, which hosts several Iranian nuclear facilities, has been among the areas hardest hit during the conflict, with numerous missile sites reportedly bombed.
In August, Iranian authorities announced the execution of two men accused of “transmitting the coordinates of sensitive military and security sites” to Israel.
Iran carries out the second-highest number of executions globally after China, according to human rights groups.
