Jigawa commissioner suspends Dutse Mega School director over alleged negligence
The Commissioner for Higher Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Isa Yusuf Chamo, has announced the suspension of the Director of Dutse Mega School, Mallam Abdullahi, from office.
This was contained in a statement signed by Abdullahi Yakubu, the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology, and issued to journalists.
The suspension followed an unannounced visit by the commissioner to some schools to assess the level of academic activities and the commitment of school administrators and teachers.
During the visit, the commissioner expressed dissatisfaction over what he described as negligence of duty by some school administrators and persistent teacher absenteeism.
The commissioner lamented that some school managements had failed to fulfil their responsibilities in effectively running the schools, despite the government’s significant investment in the education sector.
He further directed the Director of School Services in the Ministry of Higher Education, Mallam Mustapha Abdullahi Ringim, to investigate the issue of teacher absenteeism and take further necessary action.
The commissioner also ordered the immediate suspension of salaries of the affected teachers pending further investigation.
