Kwara NDC candidate promises public scorecard for 2027 agenda

The governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kwara State, Abdulmumin Ajia, has promised to make public records of his administration’s commitments and progress if elected in 2027.
Ajia made the pledge on Thursday in Ilorin when he formally launched his campaign and unveiled the “Forward Kwara Agenda”, which he said would provide an integrated development plan for the state.
He said residents would be able to monitor the work of his administration through published commitments, timelines and information on the institutions responsible for carrying them out.

“We will publish our commitments. We will report our progress. We will explain delays. And we will accept responsibility for our performance,” he stated.
The accountability pledge formed part of a campaign agenda built around security, education, healthcare, job creation and infrastructure.
Ajia presents development agenda
Ajia said the NDC would connect security, education, healthcare, transportation, agriculture, employment and development at the local level.
He promised to strengthen public schools and health facilities, expand affordable health insurance and improve roads and public transportation.
The candidate also promised support for traders, artisans, farmers and small businesses as part of his proposed programme for the state.
He said education and skills acquisition would be connected to employment, with agricultural production and processing receiving support under his proposed administration.
Ajia also promised to develop a framework for dealing with outstanding pensioners’ gratuities.
He used the campaign launch to criticise the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing both parties as representatives of “old politics.”
“The APC and PDP represent the old approach of scattered projects, political convenience and programmes that do not work together,” Ajia said.
He said the NDC would adopt a different approach by bringing security, education, healthcare, transport, agriculture and employment into one development plan.
Ajia also promised that his campaign would concentrate on issues and avoid attacks on political opponents.
He said he was seeking the governorship to serve the people and not to enrich himself.
“I will never be party to anything or anyone that will corrupt the system,” he said.
Candidate asks voters to demand accountability
Ajia also asked voters to hold elected leaders accountable after elections.
“Do not give us four years of silence. Do not defend us when we are wrong simply because you voted for us,” Ajia said.
He called on Kwarans to put the interests of the state above party loyalty when assessing elected leaders.
The campaign launch was preceded by a tour of parts of Ilorin, where Ajia interacted with residents and traders.
He later visited traditional leaders, including the Balogun Alanamu of Ilorin and the Balogun Fulani of Ilorin Emirate, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, to seek their support and blessings.
Ajia also visited the scene of an accident around Taiwo Road. He sympathised with the victims, obtained their contact details and promised to assist them.
At the campaign event, he presented retired educationist Elder Ajayi Israel Awolowo as his running mate.
He also introduced the party’s candidates for the National Assembly and Kwara State House of Assembly elections.
Ajia asked Kwarans to vote for NDC candidates in the governorship, National Assembly and state Assembly elections.
He said having NDC candidates across the different levels of government would enable the party to implement its proposed development programme.
