Lagos Pastor Urges Deputy Governor Hamzat To Make Life Easy For Nigerians When He Becomes Governor

Lead Pastor of Harvesters International Christian Centre (HICC), Bolaji Idowu, has made a direct appeal to Lagos State Deputy Governor Dr Obafemi Hamzat regarding the economic hardship facing everyday Nigerians.
Dr Obafemi Hamzat, who is running for Lagos State Governor under the All Progressives Congress (APC), visited HICC alongside his running mate, Damilola Solayo James, as part of campaign outreach engagements.
Addressing Hamzat directly from the pulpit, Pastor Bolaji urged him to prioritise reducing the financial strain on citizens if he wins.
”If you emerge as Governor, sir, ejo sir, let it be easy. Nigerians are going through difficult times. Things are really tough at the moment. Even if you win the governorship election or someone else wins, all we want is for the hardship to be reduced.”
Hamzat acknowledged the plea with a smile as the pastor emphasised that leadership impact, rather than political victory alone, should be the primary focus.
Video clips of the interaction sparked widespread discussion online. Many commended Pastor Bolaji for speaking truth to power and voicing the real-world economic struggles of Lagosians directly to a politician.
Others expressed cynicism about political campaign visits to religious centres during election cycles or argued that religious leaders should avoid political engagement.
