  • Minister of Defence Christopher Musa has said every Nigerian should undergo military training to understand what it means to endure hunger, exhaustion and difficult conditions.
  • His remarks, made during an interview on the African Leadership Podcast, have sparked reactions online, with some Nigerians questioning the proposal and pointing to the hardship many citizens already face.

Minister of Defence Christopher Musa has said every Nigerian should undergo military training to understand what it means to endure hunger and difficult conditions.

Musa made the statement while speaking on the African Leadership Podcast with Ken Giami, where he explained that military training could give civilians a different perspective on life and help them appreciate what members of the Armed Forces experience.

“Every Nigerian should undergo military training to understand what it means to stay hungry and learn what endurance means,” he said.

According to Musa, military training exposes people to hunger, exhaustion, lack of sleep and physically demanding situations. He said such experiences could help Nigerians better understand the sacrifices made by soldiers while carrying out their duties.

The minister also spoke about the difficulties faced by military personnel, noting that they operate in challenging conditions while leaving their families behind to secure the country.

His comment has since generated mixed reactions on social media, with some Nigerians questioning why citizens need military training to understand hardship when many already struggle with hunger and economic difficulties.
