Nigerian Family Allegedly Loses UK Accommodation After Student They Helped Reports Them To Landlord

A Nigerian travel consultant has shared the story of a Nigerian family in the United Kingdom who allegedly lost their accommodation after helping a Nigerian student who recently moved to the country.

The consultant, identified as @boye4christ2006 on X, said the woman arrived in the UK about three months ago to study and was accommodated by the family.

According to him, the family charged her £300 monthly, which he said was cheaper than the £500 to £600 allegedly charged for accommodation around her school.

“This Nigerian family helped a Nigerian lady who came to the UK to study just three months ago.”

He claimed that after she settled into school and made new friends, she later discovered that the family members accommodating her were also tenants in the property.

The consultant alleged that the woman then asked them to reduce her rent from £300 to £200 and threatened to report them to the landlord if they refused.

“She then proposed that they reduce her rent to £200, or else she would report them to the landlord.”

According to him, the family rejected the request, after which the woman reportedly contacted the landlord.

He claimed the landlord visited the property that same day and told the occupants to leave over an alleged breach of their tenancy agreement.

“They disagreed, and eventually, she reported them to the landlord.”

“The landlord came to the property that same day and told the tenants to vacate the apartment because they had breached their tenancy agreement.”

The consultant said the development left both the family and the student searching for new accommodation.

“Now, both of them are looking for house.”

He questioned the difficulties Nigerians face when trying to help one another abroad, asking, “Is it a crime to help Nigerians in the UK?”

He added: “It’s difficult to help Nigerians in the UK.”
