A prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, has died.
The family announced his passing on Monday, August 31, 2026.
Orbih held several traditional titles including the Kulukulu 1 of Ogoni Land and the Oduma of Uzairue.
He was born on October 27, 1961, in Ogbona in Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State.
He studied history at the University of Benin and went on to have a distinguished career in the oil and gas sector.
He served as a director on the board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and was a member of the governing council of the University of Port Harcourt.
He also served on various committees at state and national levels of the PDP.
In 1999, he was the deputy governorship candidate of the All Peoples Party in Edo State.
Over his career, he earned certifications in international petroleum management from a Rome-based institution and in corporate leadership from Harvard Business School.
His numerous chieftaincy titles reflected his contributions to his communities and wider society.
He is survived by his wife Florence and two children, along with siblings and extended family members.
The family has asked people to keep them in their prayers during this difficult time.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
