Prince William And Kate Middleton Reportedly Won’t Extend Olive Branch To Harry And Meghan
Prince William and Kate Middleton reportedly have no plans to reconcile with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle following the Sussexes’ return to Britain. Although some royal commentators believe Harry’s move back to the UK will eventually force the estranged brothers to confront their differences, a friend of the Prince and Princess of Wales claims the couple intends to continue keeping their distance.
5The insider insisted that Harry and Meghan’s location will not affect how William and Kate approach their royal responsibilities. “It makes no difference if Harry and Meghan are in Oxfordshire, California or Timbuktu,” the pal told the Daily Mail. “William and Catherine will continue their lives of public service. They intend to lead by example.”
Speculation about a potential reconciliation has increased since reports emerged that Harry and Meghan planned to relocate to the UK with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The couple reportedly informed several friendly media outlets of their plans approximately two weeks ago.
Harry and Meghan left their roles as working members of the Royal Family in 2020 and eventually established a new life in California. Their reported return comes approximately six years after that dramatic departure.
The Cotswolds have emerged as one potential destination for the family because the Sussexes previously rented a country property in the area. However, the exact location of their prospective home and the school their children will attend have not been publicly confirmed.
5Daily Mail royal commentator Richard Kay argued that William cannot continue avoiding Harry indefinitely. “At some stage they are going to have to engage, because they can’t not engage forever,” Kay said.
He suggested that any initial reconciliation effort would likely need to happen privately and include both couples. “I would have thought that in the first instance there would need to be a private meeting between Harry and William and presumably Catherine and Meghan, too, where they can sort of hammer out some kind of official line, even if it’s sort of grip and grin in public,” he said. “But at least show there is some kind of public-spirited sense of reunion between the two.”
Kay also suggested that the brothers’ ongoing estrangement could eventually become a problem for the monarchy. “The public won’t stand for it,” he said. “William knows that, above all, his responsibility to the monarchy, to the institution, has to take first place, so he’ll have to put whatever personal differences he has to one side.”
No such meeting has been announced, and the latest insider comments suggest William and Kate do not currently share that view.
William And Kate Reportedly Feel No Obligation To Reconcile
5William and Kate’s reported reluctance follows years of public tension between the two couples. Harry and Meghan discussed their experiences within the Royal Family during their highly publicized 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey. The couple later revisited their royal departure and family relationships in the Netflix documentary series “Harry & Meghan.”
Harry also made a number of claims about William and other members of the Royal Family in his 2023 memoir, “Spare.” The book included his account of a physical confrontation with William and explored the brothers’ longstanding personal tensions. Those public disclosures are reportedly among the reasons William and Kate remain unwilling to repair the relationship.
Sussexes’ Reported Cotswolds Move Sparks Local Speculation
5Reports about the Sussexes’ relocation have generated significant interest in the Cotswolds. Residents have reportedly exchanged theories about which property the family might purchase, where Archie and Lilibet could attend school and when Harry or Meghan may begin appearing around the area.
Harry and Meghan previously lived at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor before leaving the property following the end of their working royal roles.
The Waleses Are Reportedly Focused On Their Royal Roles
5William and Kate appear determined to keep the focus on their public duties instead of the Sussexes’ return. The couple’s reported strategy is to continue its existing schedule without publicly engaging with the family conflict or responding to speculation about Harry and Meghan.
The insider’s claim that they plan to “lead by example” suggests William and Kate want their work to speak for them rather than become involved in another round of public discussion about the royal rift.
For now, however, William and Kate reportedly see no reason to change course.
