Troops Rescue 6 Abducted Victims After Gun Battle In Kebbi

Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued six abducted persons following a gun battle with terrorists along the Wasagu-Ayu Road in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The rescue operation was carried out on September 2, 2026, following credible intelligence that suspected terrorists had attacked Mahinua Village along the Wasagu-Ayu Road.

A statement by the spokesperson for the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, said troops moved to the area after receiving information about the attack.

According to the statement, the troops engaged the terrorists in a gun battle, forcing them to flee the area and abandon the six abducted victims.

The troops also recovered a vehicle from the terrorists during the operation.

The rescued victims were subsequently handed over to community leaders in the area for reunification with their families, while the recovered vehicle was taken into military custody.

The latest operation underscores the continued efforts by troops under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt terrorist activities and rescue victims in the North-West.
