Majority Chief Whip and South Dayi MP Rockson-Nelson Etse Dafeamekpor has confirmed that two separate bail applications filed on behalf of detained Asante Akyem North MP, Ohene Kwame Frimpong, have both been rejected by Dutch authorities.
Speaking on Eyewitness News, Dafeamekpor said Frimpong remains in custody in Amsterdam, with attention now shifting toward the substantive extradition hearing scheduled for November 18, 2026.
“We have done two applications, one substantive, one appeal for his bail, but they all got refused,” he said, confirming that the MP’s legal team is now preparing to argue the case at the full hearing instead.
Frimpong, popularly known as OK Frimpong, was arrested at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport in May 2026 shortly after arriving from Ghana. Parliament confirmed his detention days later and has since engaged Ghana’s diplomatic mission in The Hague for support.
According to court documents cited in earlier reporting, the case against him involves an 18-count indictment alleging schemes built around romance, inheritance and gold-related scams, with proceeds allegedly funneled through an account tied to New Grace Restaurants. None of the allegations have been proven in court.
With the November hearing now locked in, Dafeamekpor said Parliament is also working on a formal statement addressing the MP’s situation, while continuing to caution against the spread of unverified details about the case as the legal process unfolds.
