The United States has delivered military equipment to Nigeria’s Air Force as part of efforts to boost the country’s counter-terrorism capabilities.
A U.S. Air Force transport plane carried the equipment to Nigeria over the weekend under a Foreign Military Sales agreement between the two countries.
The delivery strengthens the military partnership between Washington and Abuja and will help Nigeria’s fight against terrorism and other security threats in the region.
Nigeria has been relying on international defence partnerships to enhance its armed forces’ operational abilities.
The U.S. has maintained military cooperation with Nigeria in recent years, particularly in counter-terrorism, military education, intelligence sharing and defence capacity building.
This latest equipment delivery is expected to improve the Nigerian Air Force’s operational strength as the country continues its campaign against terrorist groups and armed security threats.
The move also highlights the growing emphasis on bilateral defence cooperation between the two countries in addressing security challenges affecting Nigeria and the wider West African region.
