VDM Takes Talented Nigerian Youngster Smartican To China

Nigerian social media activist, Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has sponsored a talented 18-year-old self-taught roboticist, Smartician, to study robotics in China.
VDM discovered Smartician, whose real name is Darlyton Ovwieghosuotu, on Instagram after the teenager shared creative home-built appliances such as a washing machine, blender, wireless power bank, and projector made from scratch using local materials.
In the video, the social media influencer and human rights activist was said to have announced that the travel to China was via Egypt Air and urged the genius to look at the international airport very well, as it may take a year before he comes back, perhaps to see his parents and then go back to complete his education in the asian country.
VDM is said to have allocated $50,000 (approximately ₦75 million) from a cash gift he received from a benefactor to fund the initiative entirely out of personal funds.
Part of the funds was used to clear VDM’s personal debts, while the rest covers Smartician’s complete tuition, welfare, feeding, and travel expenses.
Smartician officially received his Chinese student visa on December 18, with final documentation and approvals rolling out toward mid-August 2026.
According to reports, Smartician is officially scheduled to resume school on October 12, 2026.
