Pastor Tobi Adegboyega has explained the reason behind SPAC Nation’s decision to intentionally expose its female members to luxury and high-end experiences.
The pastor said the initiative was designed to ensure that young women would not be easily swayed by wealthy men or feel that material possessions were something they could only access through relationships with affluent individuals.
In a video currently making the rounds online, Adegboyega explained that members of the church were deliberately taken to expensive hotels, restaurants and other exclusive establishments.
He said the goal was to broaden their perspective, build their confidence and help them understand that they could aspire to such lifestyles without compromising their values.
“What I did with SPAC Nation members is that we exposed them to nice places, nice cars and hotels. So a girl child will not be carried away with all of these things. You will not idolise a rapper or a footballer and lose your principles because your leader already took you there.
SPAC Nation goes to where 0.001% have access to. I’ll make a female member talk to the chairman of Rosewood Hotel, so that if you do something, it’s because you want to do it, not that a guy made you feel like you will never experience this without him,” he said.
Adegboyega further revealed that the church organised some of its activities, including worship services, lunches and feeding programmes, at luxury locations such as Rosewood and Dorchester.
According to him, these experiences were intentional and formed part of an effort to strengthen the confidence of young women and help them develop a mindset that would make them less dependent on wealthy men for access to a particular lifestyle.
“We did churches, lunch, the feeding programmes in expensive places on purpose. So now again, the girl child has confidence. She’s not going to be following a big man around,” he added.
His remarks have sparked discussions online, particularly about his unconventional approach to teaching young women about wealth, self-worth and independence.
