A Kenyan woman is mourning the heartbreaking loss of her newborn son, just hours after finally becoming a mother following 15 years of waiting.
Achungo Nyar Essy gave birth to her baby boy on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, after years of battling infertility and hoping to have a child.
But what should have been one of the happiest moments of her life quickly turned into devastating sorrow when her newborn son died shortly after birth.
In a touching Facebook post, Achungo opened up about her pain and paid tribute to her late son.
Reflecting on her long journey to motherhood, she said the loss has left her with a deep scar, pain and sorrow.
Despite the heartbreaking tragedy, Achungo said her faith remains strong. She reaffirmed her belief that Jesus is still a miracle worker, even in the midst of her pain.

“I gave birth today 23rd September at 11.46 am, and my child died. Today I won’t question God. I will just cry and say….. It is well. wuod okuyu, wuod suba. My sister Prim, please watch over my baby Jibriell Kamau for me. Nimelia sana imetosha,” she wrote in a Facebook post.
“What I remain with today is a scar, pain, and sorrow
Eeeiii, for 15 yrs I was barren, you came and my world knew, Jesus is still a miracle worker. I don’t know why you left as soon as you came, but God has the answers my prince. I will love you today and forever my love. Yawaaaa, zingine ni ngumu kusema.”
