Professional wrestler and musician Andy “The Butcher” Williams has died at the age of 48.
Williams suffered a medical emergency during a wrestling match near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, September 5, 2026.
He was competing at an Enjoy Wrestling event at Mr. Smalls Theatre in Millvale.
Williams teamed with his longtime partner Jesse “The Blade” Guilmette for a tag-team match against TME.
Witnesses said Williams appeared unsteady near the end of the match before collapsing.
Medical workers entered the ring and gave him CPR. Reports said they also used a defibrillator before an ambulance took him to hospital.
Organisers cancelled the rest of the event.
Williams later died in hospital. His agent confirmed his death on Sunday morning.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office also confirmed his death.
Authorities have not announced what caused the medical emergency. An examination will help establish his official cause of death.
Enjoy Wrestling shared a short tribute after confirming the news.
“Butcher Forever,” the organisation wrote.
Williams became widely known as The Butcher during his time with All Elite Wrestling.
He joined AEW in 2019 and formed The Butcher and The Blade tag team with Guilmette.
Before becoming a professional wrestler, Williams built a successful career in music.
He was a founding member and rhythm guitarist for the American metalcore band Every Time I Die. The band ended its run in 2022.
His death has brought tributes from wrestling fans, musicians and former colleagues.
