APC youth leader Dayo Israel defended over distribution of Prado SUVs

The distribution of Prado SUVs to selected All Progressives Congress (APC) youth leaders has drawn a public defence from party youth officials, who have backed National Youth Leader Dayo Israel amid criticism of the exercise.

The officials, according to a statement on Tuesday, passed a vote of confidence in their leader, arguing that the vehicles would support grassroots mobilisation and reward party members who had worked for the APC.

The statement, signed by South South Zonal Youth Leader Prince Koyoyo and North East Zonal Youth Leader Joseph Mwadiyale, also cited bus donations, overseas training for at least 100 Nigerian youths and a youth resource centre as evidence of Israel’s work.

NewDailyPrime had earlier reported that the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC) for distributing brand-new 2026 Toyota Prado SUVs to selected youth leaders for election mobilisation.

In response to this criticism, the APC youth leaders affirmed that the vehicles will aid grassroots mobilisation.

Leaders defend rewards for party workers

The officials acknowledged criticism of a social media post announcing the distribution of campaign mobilisation vehicles to selected youth leaders.

They said the announcement had not been well received by everyone but maintained that the beneficiaries deserved recognition for their contributions.

They said inadequate rewards for loyal party members had been a recurring complaint within the APC. The vehicles, they added, would ease travel for youth leaders mobilising party members across the country.

The statement also listed Toyota Hiace buses provided to the Deputy National Youth Leader, all six zonal youth leaders and the FCT Youth Leader.

The officials said at least 100 Nigerian youths had benefited from overseas capacity-building and training conferences facilitated under Israel’s leadership. They also cited the APC Youth Wing’s resource centre, which they called the first of its kind.

Tinubu’s praise cited in Israel’s defence

The youth leaders pointed to an Abuja event organised by the CityBoy Movement on 19 October 2026, where they said President Bola Tinubu singled out Israel’s work in youth development for praise.

They rejected attempts to discredit the national youth leader and alleged that unnamed forces were trying to influence party affairs from behind the scenes.

The officials appealed to members with genuine reservations to engage Israel constructively. They also thanked First Lady Oluremi Tinubu for her support and pledged to mobilise young Nigerians for the APC’s 2027 re-election campaign.

WHAT READERS SHOULD KNOW

The statement defends Israel’s leadership amid criticism of the Prado SUV distribution, but it does not disclose how many SUVs were distributed, who received them or the cost of the vehicles.

The signatories’ position is that vehicle support and youth development programmes justify continued confidence in Israel’s leadership.
