A traditional woman has sparked debate over feminism after criticising women who challenge traditional gender roles, arguing that the movement has negatively influenced the younger generation.
In a statement making the rounds online, the woman expressed concern that some women are increasingly rejecting responsibilities traditionally expected of them in relationships and marriages, including cooking, washing and having children.
According to her, feminism has encouraged women to become more confrontational towards men, particularly when they feel disrespected or believe their partners are treating them unfairly.
She argued that such attitudes are inconsistent with African cultural values, describing feminism as a foreign influence that has introduced what she called “dem0nic ideas” into society.
Addressing feminists directly, the woman urged them to reconsider their beliefs and questioned the kind of equality they are demanding.
“Feminism has destroyed our generation, it has gotten into thier head. Women are now refusing to give birth, to cook. to wash. women are now standing up to men and telling them ‘how dare you talk to me like that?’ All these are not part of our culture, we’ve imported dem0nic ideas. You feminist have to come back to your senses, what equal right are you fighting for?” she said.
Her comments have brought the debate over feminism, cultural values and gender roles into focus, particularly regarding whether traditional expectations should determine how women behave in relationships and marriages.
