“I Did Not Pray For Tinubu, Muslim-Muslim Ticket” – Rev Dachomo Denies 2027 Endorsement

- Plateau cleric Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo has denied claims that he prayed for President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima to win the 2027 presidential election on a Muslim-Muslim ticket.
- His clarification followed reports about a prayer during his ongoing Israel visit in which he prayed for Tinubu and his administration.
Nigerian evangelist and Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, has denied claims that he prayed for President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima to win the 2027 presidential election on a Muslim-Muslim ticket.
Dachomo, who is currently in Israel on what he described as his first International Christian Advocacy Tour, issued the clarification in a social media post on Monday night.
The clarification followed reports concerning a prayer he offered during his Israel visit in which he mentioned President Tinubu and prayed for his administration. In the prayer, he said he was praying for Tinubu and his administration and asked that any “evil seed” planted against the government be uprooted.
Dachomo, however, said his remarks had been misconstrued as an endorsement of the APC’s Muslim-Muslim ticket ahead of the 2027 election.
“People are trying to frame me, saying I prayed for a Muslim-Muslim ticket. But I did not, and I will never pray for a Muslim-Muslim ticket because Nigeria belongs to both Muslims and Christians,” the cleric stated.
He said his prayers were for Nigeria and its citizens, regardless of their religious affiliations.
“I pray for both Muslims and Christians in Nigeria. I pray for Nigeria to succeed. If you truly want to come to God, come with a clean heart. I did not pray for President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima to win in 2027. My prayers have always been for Nigeria to succeed,” he added.
Dachomo has previously spoken strongly about insecurity and attacks in Plateau State and said his Israel visit was aimed at drawing international attention to the situation and the alleged persecution of Christians in the state.
The cleric’s latest statement has now clarified that, while he has prayed for Nigeria, its leaders and the country’s wellbeing, he says such prayers should not be interpreted as support for Tinubu and Shettima’s 2027 presidential ticket.
