“Obviously, There’s No Future”- Lady Reacts After Man Blocks Her Over Income Question

A Nigerian lady has stirred reactions on social media after revealing that a man she had been talking to for three weeks blocked her shortly after their first date because she asked about his annual income.

In a video shared on X, formerly Twitter, the lady explained that she went on a date with the man the previous day but discovered that he had blocked her the following day.

According to her, the man considered her question about his yearly earnings inappropriate and argued that she would not appreciate being asked the same question if their roles were reversed.

However, the lady defended her decision to ask about his finances, insisting that financial discussions were important when determining whether a potential partner was suitable for a serious relationship.

She argued that women should focus more on questions that reveal a man’s financial responsibilities, income and spending habits rather than limiting conversations to personal preferences or past relationships.

“I need to know how much you spend every month, how much goes out and comes in. I cannot be asking you, ‘What’s your favourite colour? What happened between you and your ex?’” she said.

The lady further disclosed that the man had never blocked her during the three weeks they had been communicating. She added that he later demanded an apology, which she said she declined to give, despite initially apologising.

Explaining her position, she maintained that knowing a potential partner’s earnings could help her determine whether the relationship had a realistic future.

“Accountability for asking you how much you earn? To know if there’s a future. Obviously, there’s no future. There’s no present,” she added.

She concluded by asking other women about the questions they typically ask men during dates, prompting discussions about whether financial matters should be addressed early in a relationship or introduced after both parties have established a stronger connection.
