Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has given a report, that he spoken to the bandit and they said the are tired, unhappy about the bloodshed.

He said they feel trapped and believe they nigerian army will kill them all if they give up.

He made the claims in an online interview published on October 29.

But the clips went viral on Tuesday.

Gumi stated that one bandit told him that the bloodshed had gone too far.

The group said it is forced to keep fighting.

They complained that military operations, which they said started as a crackdown on cattle rustling, have killed women and children in their communities.

They stated the violence as a cycle of revenge and counter attacks.

Gumi have told the religious leaders should push both sides to talk.

He also said that the bandits need clarity that they army will not kill them if they lay down their arms.

He also said armed groups are arming themselves through a black market, and that rival gangs compete to buy more powerful weapons.

He suggested that some people may be funding them and that foreign intelligence agencies could be involved, but he gave no evidence for these claims.

Gumi has put in talks with some armed groups.

Critics say negotiating with bandits could let them escape accountability.
