Bella Shmurda Opens Up On Music’s Deeper Purpose, Says He’s More Intentional About His Craft

Nigerian music star Bella Shmurda, born Abiola Ahmed Akinbiyi, has opened up about his evolving awareness of music’s profound influence, stressing that it goes far beyond mere entertainment.
Speaking during the ‘For Bunmi’ documentary, the 30-year-old singer described music as a powerful societal force capable of shaping minds, inspiring progress, and promoting wellbeing.
“Music is warfare. Music is a tool for the society. Music is a tool of progress. Music is an instrument of goodwill. Music is a tool to keep people sane, to put them in the right state of mind, to make them dance away their sorrow, and to make them feel alive and self-conscious,” he explained.
Bella further revealed that his deeper perspective on music has made him significantly more intentional about the type of songs he creates.
According to him, he desires to build a musical legacy that his future children will proudly embrace as they grow older.
