Bruce Springsteen Pauses Trump Feud, Gives Thanks After President Escapes WHCD Shooting Scare

Following the White House Correspondents’ Dinner (WHCD) shooting at the Washington Hilton hotel on Saturday night by a gunman, American rock star Bruce Springsteen has told his fans at his show on Sunday, April 26, that “political violence of any kind” is unacceptable.

Springsteen gave a plea for peace at home and abroad and stressed that he was against political violence on Sunday night during the E Street Band’s event at the Moody Centre in Texas.

The rock star, known for his mistrust of President Donald Trump and his administration, offered prayers for their safety.

“We begin tonight with a prayer for our men and women in service overseas, we pray for their safe return,” said Springsteen, according to fan videos of the moment.

“We also send out a prayer of thanks that our President, nor anyone in the administration, nor anyone attending, was injured at last night’s incident at the [White House] Press Correspondents’ Dinner.

“We can disagree. We can be critical of those in power and peacefully fight for our beliefs. But there is no place in any way, shape, or form for political violence of any kind in our beloved United States,” he said.

While the singer has recently been a regular Trump antagonist, blaming the president and his administration for bringing “death and terror to the streets of Minneapolis”, Springsteen was sympathetic on Sunday after what seems to be the third attempt on the President’s life since he was reelected last year.
