Hardship: “You can’t expect Nigerians to applaud you” – PRP chair to Tinubu

A former aide to President Bola Tinubu and the current National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Hakeem Baba-Ahmed has accused the president of being disconnected from the plights faced by Nigerians.
Baba-Ahmed while speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Monday also condemned the president’s remark on his administration’s performance.
Recall that Tinubu had said that members of the opposition have failed to see and appreciate his administration’s effort across the nation.
The president said, “If they don’t want to see the hope… we shall lend them ‘jigi-bola’… eyeglasses.”
Reacting to the president’s remark, Baba-Ahmed said the president’s administration led by Tinubu appears to be unaware of the economic and security challenges faced by Nigerians.
“There is no way you can live in this country, see the level of poverty and unaccountability, and still expect Nigerians to applaud your performance, Baba-Ahmed said.
According to him, the policies implemented by the Tinubu administration have failed to deliver positive results or benefits to the people.
He said that since assuming office, the current administration has only successfully plunged citizens into abject penury and untold hardship.
“We are more insecure, more hungry, and more desperate. The reforms on paper do not reflect the reality Nigerians face.
“There is no way you can live in this country, see the level of poverty, seeing the level of unaccountability, we’re not accounting for the funds we’re getting, and still say that Nigerians should see what you’re doing and applaud you,” he said.
Baba-Ahmed further stated that should the president allow a free and fair election in 2027, he would lose his seat before anyone could think of it.
