APC Concerned Group Protests Lack Of Fairness In Party Primaries In Nasarawa

As the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) primaries are ongoing, a group under the auspices of the APC Concern group has protested against the process and credibility of the exercise in Nasarawa State.

The leader of the group, Honourable Abdullahi Yammani, made the feelings of the group known during a press conference held in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.

Yammani explained that the recent House representatives and senatorial primaries held in the state were characterised by irregularities, which had made the party’s loyalists lost conference on the credibility of those who saddle on the affairs.

According to Hon. Abdullahi Yammani,” Our attention has been drawn to the irregularities that characterised the conduct of the recent APC Senatorial and House of Representatives primary elections in Nasarawa State.

”As concerned members and stakeholders of our great party, we find it necessary to express our dissatisfaction over the way the exercise went in some parts of the state.

”Information available to us revealed that in some wards within Lafia and its environs, election materials were either not supplied or arrived very late, making it impossible for the party members to fully participate in the exercise,” he lamented.

The leader also mentioned some of the affected wards that there were allegations of irregularities in the primaries to include Gayam, Akurba, Wakwa, Agyaragu, Assakio, Ashige, Shabu/Kwandare, BAD and Arikya wards, among others.

He further warned that if the party did not show signs of fairness in the conduct of the party primaries to bring out credible flag-bearers, the group would end up working against the party in the general election come 2027.

Hon. Abdullahi, however, added that the party members have continued to express concern over the role played by some officials saddled with the responsibility of supervising the exercise, especially with reports that officials from the national headquarters of the party were not visibly present in several affected areas during the election.
