Former Bayelsa State Governor and Senator, Seriake Dickson, has warned that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) should not be reduced to a platform for advancing individual political ambitions.
He made the remark while responding to ongoing political discussions involving prominent opposition figures such as Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso, among others.
According to Dickson, political structures like the NDC are expected to represent collective interests, democratic ideals, and long-term national objectives rather than serving as a shortcut for personal political goals. He stressed that when such platforms are driven by individual ambition, their credibility and internal stability are weakened.
He further noted that sustainable political movements require ideological discipline, strong organization, and shared vision, rather than reliance on the influence of popular personalities alone.
His comments have generated mixed reactions, with some political observers interpreting them as a reminder to opposition leaders about the importance of unity and ideological direction ahead of future elections.
