PDP To Ratify Jonathan As Presidential Candidate Tomorrow

ABUJA – The Tanimu Turaki-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced plans to hold a special national convention aimed at ratifying the nomination of former President Goodluck Jonathan as its presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 electoral contest.

According to an official notice issued by the party’s leadership, jointly signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, and the National Organising Secretary, Hon. Theophilus Dakas Shan, it said the convention is scheduled for tomorrow in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

The event is expected to bring together party delegates, stakeholders and supporters from across the country as the opposition party seeks to formally consolidate its presidential ticket and strengthen internal political alignments ahead of the next general election cycle.

The convention will take place at the ‘A’ Class Event Centre, located along Kassim Ibrahim Way, Wuse 2, Abuja, beginning at 10:00a.m.

The notice described the gathering as a “Special National Convention for the Ratification of the Nomination of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”

Political observers believe the development could reshape ongoing conversations within the opposition bloc as parties intensify preparations for the next presidential race.

Jonathan, who previously served as president of Nigeria, remains a significant figure within the PDP and Nigeria’s broader political landscape, with his potential return already generating debate across political circles.

Party insiders say the convention is expected to provide a platform for consultations, mobilisation and reaffirmation of the PDP’s strategic direction as it positions itself for future electoral contests.
