Primaries: Female Aspirant Rejects Result, Begs APC Appeal Committee To Be Gender Sensitive

Mrs Ebu Onyawoyi Beauty, a female aspirant who contested House of Assembly under the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC), in Doma South, Doma local government area of Nasarawa State at weekend rejected the outcome of the election recently conducted in the state, begged APC Appeal Committee to consider female gender for sake gender balance in the State Assembly.

Mrs Ebu, made an appeal while briefing journalists in Lafia, the state capital.

She said that on 20th of May 2026, was scheduled to hold state’s Assembly APC primaries but there was no election in Doma South constituency but result has been announced.

According to Beauty,” Normally, election materials for all ten electoral wards are brought to the same police station in Doma Local Government, and then distributed to the various wards from there.

​”Upon reaching there, only six wards were available, and the four wards for Doma South were nowhere to be found. When we met with the DPO, he said he was only given materials for the six wards of Doma North, not Doma South.

“We were asked to check with the party office, but no one was there. We also looked for the committee sent from Abuja to oversee the election, but they were nowhere to be found, and their phone numbers were unavailable.

” Upon returning to Doma, the DPO informed us that the election had been canceled for that day because it was already night. It was canceled around 9:00 PM on the 20th.

“We all dispersed to our homes to wait for the next day, hoping all materials would be available for distribution to the various polling units. However, around 11:00 PM, some people were caught in Akpanaja with fake soldiers, attempting to conduct an election at 11:48 pm,” she lamented.

Mrs Ebu Beauty who also expressed shocked over the development, said that how can an election which has been officially canceled by 9:00 pm on 20th in Doma Local Government, with materials undistributed and candidate would be declared as a winner

A female aspirant who further alleged manipulation said some people have been arrested in connection and they are currently in police custody for an investigation.

Mrs Ebu Onyawoyi Beauty called on governor Abdullahi Sule, APC national Headquarters, minister women affairs to intervene on her matter for the sake of gender balance.
