Transparency Watch, a good governance and accountability advocacy group, has rejected allegations of corrupt enrichment against Senator Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari, describing the claims as unsubstantiated.
The statement follows recent allegations by a group identifying itself as the Zamfara Concerned Youth Assembly for Peace Advocacy, which called for scrutiny of the senator’s reported business interests, including alleged investments in Geregu Power Plc and Amperion Power.In a statement signed by its Director of Public Affairs, Cliff Richards, Transparency Watch said its independent review found no evidence to support the allegations against Yari, who represents Zamfara West Senatorial District in the Senate.
According to the group, the allegations were not supported by documentary evidence linking the former Zamfara State governor to any wrongdoing.Transparency Watch also stated that Yari’s name did not appear in documents referenced by his accusers and argued that calls for an investigation were based on unverified claims.
The organisation further said it was not aware of any ongoing investigation involving the senator by anti-corruption agencies. It added that, as a private citizen, Yari is entitled to engage in lawful business activities and investments. The group urged individuals and organisations making public allegations to support their claims with verifiable evidence and to pursue constructive engagement on issues of public accountability.
