The newly-appointed Global Sustainability Ambassador to the United Nations Association of Africa (UNAA), Victor Asije, has called on more Africans to begin to fix Africa for more global relevance.
Asije, who commended what notable African sons and daughters at home and in the Diaspora had been doing to harness the continent’s huge endowment, enjoined more Africans to join them.
“Africa is a well-known continent in global economy, that has been providing critical minerals for modern technology, huge agriculture resources, and vital carbon sink.
“And Africa’s fast-growing youthful population is, advantageously, becoming and providing enviable opportunities for current, and future innovation, trade and investment, and workforce for national, continental, and global needs.
“What is now needed, is for more Africans to begin to join other concerned ,outstanding, and astounding Africa’s political and socio-economic developers and builders,” he said.
The Global Sustainability Ambassador said that it was important for more Africans to know that they also have what it takes to join in the overall development of the continent.
Asije, who said that Africa was the next frontier to the rest of the world, added that it was imperative for African governments and leaders to begin to embrace, and increase sustainable development in their communities and countries.
The Ambassador added that Africa would continue to be a ready source of natural resources to other nations, play its role in the regulation of earth’s climatic stability, with growing local markets to benefit global partners.
The Global Sustainability Ambassador said that as much as he believed in international cooperation and partnership, he strongly believed that it would take more Africans to fix Africa.
“Africa can fix Africa should be seen as the commitment of more Africans to ensuring that the continent’s human and natural resources,are mutually, and conveniently harnessed for the overall development of Africans, the continent, and also for the benefits of other peoples of the world.
“Especially now that there are indications, and growing interest of other nations in African resources, creating the enabling environment should be given top priority,” he said.
Asije also enjoined more African governments to always make selfless, purposeful and meaningful uses of unilateral, and multilateral development aids for purposes they were meant” he said.
The Global Sustainability Ambassador assured that he would continue to uphold the confidence reposed in him by the UNAA by advocating, advancing, and balancing economic growth, social inclusion, and promoting environmental harmony, globally.
